Eggs in the Garden

Our back porch is under a tree. It’s a nice tree with fun bright green leaves and baby squirrels. But the slugs and caterpillars that come out of it and eat my plants are not fun!


During a recent conversation with my Mom she mentioned reading that egg shells scattered around the base of plants would help deter this little critters. So, after discovering holes in my newly planted mint plant, and my basil plants half gone, I decided to give it a try.

We had eggs for breakfast and I saved and washed out the shells. After breaking them up a bit I scattered them around the flower pots like this:


We’ll see how it works!
