Our first home study meeting is less than two weeks away, and when we aren’t (slightly) freaking out about all that could go wrong, we are cleaning, organizing, and buying carbon monoxide detectors.
Since we have basically no idea who might be coming to stay in the coming months, we haven’t been able to do much in the way of decorating. However, I did spend a bit of time getting a space together for clothes and toy storage.
It was a simple enough project, and I just used what we already had on hand.
First up was to clean out 1/2 of the bedroom closet, and place a small night stand inside. This piece has a drawer and two small shelves. We have used this night stand, and it’s twin, for storage in our bedroom, and it really is the perfect size for socks and t-shirts. I added a basket from Target to one of the shelves, and left the other open for now.
Next to the night stand there was just enough room for this little basket. While it once held shoes by our front door, and Ruthanne’s, it was easy to clean, and would work for toys, extra blankets, or could even be a laundry basket.
Up top we placed a green storage basket, and for now have it filled with a collection of small stuffed animals.
Of course the toy dachshund, like our Roxy, needed a special place on the shelf.
It may not seem like much, but being able to prepare for a child, even if it is just setting up a place for clothes and toy storage, is pretty exciting for us. Now, let’s just hope we are approved!
